Northwest Area Foundation Announces New Board Members

ST. PAUL, Minn., (February 24, 2009) - Terrence W. Glarner of St. Paul, Minn., Rodney W. Jordan of Plymouth, Minn., and Nicholas Slade of St. Paul, Minn., joined the Northwest Area Foundation board of directors during its regularly scheduled February 2009 meeting. Each will serve a three-year term.
Glarner is founder and president of West Concord Ventures Inc., a venture capital fund. Jordan is general counsel, secretary and vice president of human resources at TLC Companies, an employee leasing company that specializes in the trucking and insurance industries. Slade is a consumer rights attorney with Barry & Slade, LLC.
We are pleased with the valuable mix of skills these new directors bring to the board, said Kevin F. Walker, president and CEO of Northwest Area Foundation. Each of these new directors is well versed in the history and mission of the Foundation, and their insights will help guide us as we pursue our new strategic direction.
The Northwest Area Foundation board of directors consists of 16 representatives from throughout the Foundations eight-state region. Others serving on the board are: Vice Chair Dorothy Bridges of Minneapolis; Elouise Cobell of Browning, Mont.; Louis F. Hill, Linda Hoeschler, Patricia Jensen all of St. Paul, Minn.; Chair Daniel Kemmis of Missoula, Mont.; Fred Kiga of Seattle, Wash.; Elsie Meeks of Rapid City, S.D.; Father Kevin McDonough of St. Paul, Minn.; Natalie Camacho Mendoza of Boise, Idaho; Sally Pederson of Des Moines, Iowa; William Thorndike, Jr. of Medford, Ore.; and Sarah Vogel of Bismarck, N.D. Directors Kemmis, McDonough, Jordan, Glarner and Slade also serve as trustees of the Foundation.
The Northwest Area Foundation is dedicated to supporting efforts by the people, organizations and communities in Minnesota, Iowa, North Dakota, South Dakota, Montana, Idaho, Oregon and Washington to reduce poverty and achieve sustainable prosperity.
